I complain about not getting comments.
I will again soon, I'm sure.
So, every once in a while, I go onto Deviant Art and I say to myself, "You should go post comments on other people's work! Share the love!"
And then I go through the fetish section. And my resolve diminishes. And I'm struck by how much wretched crap is posted there. And that most of what I like is submitted by people I already know. And that I am so bound by "If you have nothing nice to say, say nothing at all". And why do some people post EVERY SINGLE FUCKING PHOTO FROM A PHOTO SHOOT? And, why are 90% of the images in the "fetish photography" category even posted there? What makes them "fetish"? And (I know we all have to start somewhere but) why the white sheet as backdrop? At least iron it so the fold lines don't show. And don't even get me started on black trash bags as backdrops.
Hey... I know I'm not the be-all-end-all of photographers. And we all come from humble beginnings. I feel that I continue to grow with each shoot and today's work surpasses last year's and so on. But come on!!
A person will post a photo that is god-awful and say "please comment"!! They can't be serious. I would feel like a total douche if I even commented what I was actually thinking. And then I see that sometimes other people have commented things like "Great shot!!!" And I don't get it. Even if I were to give a genuine critique about lighting, posing, cropping or whatever... I would feel bad for saying something negative and bad again because, who the hell am I to critique someone's work?

Yesterday started out well. Though the construction next door woke me after only 4 hours of sleep, I got up, got dressed, and got to work. Bright and early. Hunter called and wanted to get lunch and discuss our Thanksgiving menu, so we arranged for him to come pick me up in an hour. He did and we headed to HMS Bounty, a dive bar with great fish and chips. I was excited to try it out because he'd heard great things about it.
We drove the four miles and, as we neared, I started to feel a little bit queasy. I didn't worry too much about it so we settle into a booth and ordered. A few minutes passed and I started to feel worse... And worse. I only took a few bites of my meal (it was great and I'll definitely be back!) but that was all I could manage.
Back home, in bed, and there I stayed til this morning.
The worst part is that I called in a big favor a couple months ago and scored near front row center seats to Seinfeld at Caesar's Palace for my boyfriend's bday. Those tickets set me back nearly $400 that I can hardly justify spending in this economy, but nothing's too good for my man. And, you guessed it, the show is tonight. I canceled our room and called one of his friends to accompany him while I stay at home and mope.
On a brighter note, I do love some things about the iPhone. One of the reasons I switched over was because of the camera. My old Treo sucked hairy balls and delivered the most unsaturated, hideous photos, but not so the iPhone. And there are all kinds of really cool applications you can get to enhance the experience. One of the ones I like is called "Camera Bag". I've been playing around with it for a few months and thought I'd upload a couple shots from yesterday.
The Bounty is located in the Gaylord Building on Wilshire and, cue grade-school chuckles, I liked the look of the sign against the bright blue sky.
First shot is right off the phone. The second one uses the "Cinema" filter. And the last used the "1962" filter. Pretty sweet and fiddling with them kept me occupied on the drive back home.
I made some matzoh ball soup from scratch, have watched everything I had saved on Tivo, and now I'm going to return to bed with my dog, Belly, and watch more Forensic Files episodes than I would ordinarily see in a month.

No, not really. Not REAL gay bashing. But what is hysterical is making a mockery of the photos guys post of themselves on hookup sites. I suppose it'd be too easy, too cruel, to poke fun at their appearance or penis size. That'd be too pedestrian. The true hilarity lies in discussing their homes. Seriously.
I've got two sites for you. The first is JustinSpace.com. I know Justin. He's tall. Witty. Obsessed with Swatch watches and Disney. His original concept, Obscene Interiors, was a joy when it first went online years ago, and is just as funny now. I only wish he still updated it. He even published a book of the same name and you can still buy it to delight your friends. In his version, he took actual photos from gay hookup sites, grayed out the guy in the photo, then rips apart the decor leaving you laughing and wiping your eyes.
My friend, Quinn, sent me a link to a similar newish site called Lurid Digs. Same general concept, but we're forced to see the guy too. Warning for those of you who may be squeamish... There are VERY nude, rude, lewd photos of lots of guys (old, young, hot, fugly) in various states of undress, with and without erections... You get the idea. In fact, first one to assault you today is an <ahem> older gentleman with the hairiest balls I've ever seen, dangling below an enormous hog of a cock.
If you take the time to go through the two sites, and it's so worth it, what will strike you is how many of these guys are surrounded by stuffed animals. WTF? Do adults really have stuffed animals in their bedrooms?
This, my friends, is what makes the internet great.
